This is the clause that matters. Please read it even if you skip the rest.

Claim Check extracts factual claims from text, searches for evidence, and returns a verdict and a likelihood score for each one. Every verdict is produced automatically and can be wrong. It can miss a false claim. It can flag a true one. The sources it finds can themselves be wrong, out of date, or contested.

A result is evidence for your judgement, never a substitute for it. You remain the publisher and remain responsible for what you publish. Do not use Claim Check as your only check on anything that carries real consequence, and do not treat it as legal, medical, financial or safety advice.

One distinction we hold to and you should rely on: “unverifiable” does not mean “false”. It means we did not find a source that settles the question. Treating the two as the same will lead you to delete accurate work.

You need a working email address. You are responsible for what happens under your account and for keeping your password and API keys private. An API key is shown once and stored hashed, so if you lose it we cannot recover it — create a new one and revoke the old.

Tell us promptly if you think a key has leaked and we will help you rotate it.

One request is one check, however many claims are in the draft and however long it is. Both endpoints cost the same because they run the same work.

A repeat counts too. Submitting text we have already checked returns a cached result in under a second, but it is still a check against your allowance. It is faster, not free.

A failed check costs nothing. If the pipeline errors, the model provider declines the text, or search is unavailable, nothing is counted. Your allowance is only spent when a check completes.

Plans also carry a search budget, which is a ceiling on the underlying work a plan can consume in a billing period. Ordinary use will not meet it; a very long draft consumes more of it than a short one.

Paddle is our merchant of record. They sell the subscription, take the payment, and handle sales tax and VAT wherever you are. Your contract for the purchase itself is with Paddle, and their terms apply to it alongside these.

Paid plans renew automatically for the period you chose until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for. We do not pro-rate a partial month.

Refunds: ask within seven days of a charge, before you have used half the checks in your plan, and we refund it — no form, no reason needed. Billing is monthly; if we ever add a yearly plan, whole unused months come back at any time. The usage limit is there because every check spends real money on search and model time the moment you press the button. The refund policy sets this out in full, including what happens outside the window.

We may change prices. Existing subscribers get at least 30 days' notice by email before a change affects them, and can cancel instead.

Do not:

• submit text you have no right to submit — someone else's confidential material, personal data you were not given permission to process;
• use results to harass, defame or build a case against a private individual;
• try to break, overload or work around the limits — that includes sharing one key across many users to avoid buying seats;
• resell the raw output as though it were your own verification service.

Your text and your results are yours. We claim no ownership of anything you submit, and we do not use your drafts to train models.

We run this on ordinary infrastructure and depend on model and search providers we do not control. We do not offer an uptime guarantee. The service can be slow, can be down, and can change.

If we are going to remove something you depend on, particularly in the API, we will give notice by email first rather than break your integration silently.

To the extent the law allows, our liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. We are not liable for what you publish, for anything a verdict got wrong, or for indirect or consequential loss.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and if you have consumer rights where you live, these terms do not take them away.

You can close your account whenever you like, and ask us to delete your data — see the Privacy page.

We may suspend an account that is breaking the fair use rules above or not paying. Except where something is being actively abused, we will tell you what the problem is and give you a chance to fix it first.

We will update this page and move the date at the top. For a change that materially reduces what you get, account holders get an email first, not a silent edit.
